As 2022 is coming to a close, I've realized that I'm really looking forward to the fresh start of the new year.
These past few months at work have been so busy, with so much physical work, that I've had to put off starting and continuing projects until I could catch a breather. Our company is taking off a good chunk of time at the end of the year, and I'm using this time to really reset, plan and make some new habits, and reset my creative endeavors.
First step: today I received the key to my new studio!
My previous studio was great! It had floor to ceiling windows that open all the way, a utility sink, concrete floors with a floor drain, heating and cooling — BUT though the location was convenient, I had to have the intention of going to the studio to be anywhere near it. For me personally, this was a big hurdle. Convenience and chance are a both key factors in my practice, and my new studio has both of these. I park literally 4 feet away from the front studio entrance, so there will be no excuse to spend time in the studio. I'll see it every day, and can pop in even for 10 minutes.
Habits are hard.
Removing boundaries is key.
Intention is also important.
Today I'm off to buy some cleaning supplies and get the space spic'n'span before moving into the space.
I'll share more about the space once I have it set up!
How about you?
Where is your making space?
How is it working for you?
What changes can you make to make it work better for you?
